Regional and Urban Design Committee

I know…lighting rod, right? 

I'm seeking out a referral to couple mid-sized cities (and individuals) to speak to about the positive impact of their urban design review board in a constructive review process. We'd like to find an example or two where the tangible benefit to the quality of new work in that city has been positively impacted, actually finding support among designers, elected officials, and commercial developers. 

Who's doing it well? How are members identified and approved? Is the group advising or approving?
