For more than a century, the AIA has provided a medal of excellence to recognize your top graduating student in National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) or Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) accredited schools. Each year, your designated school official is invited to submit the name of ONE winner per B.Arch, M.Arch and/or D.Arch degree. Winners should display "general excellence" throughout their academic career and are selected by the school and its faculty. Please note that students in a BS, BA, MS, or MA architecture degree (not accredited by NAAB) are not eligible for this award.
The award cycle for the 2023 Medal for Academic Excellence winners will be as follows:
Applications from school administrators will be accepted on a rolling basis, but medals and certificates will be distributed four times per year in accordance with the following schedule:
- March 15
- April 15
- June 15
- October 15
Please allow 4-6 weeks after the submission deadline to receive the medals and certificates. It is the responsibility of the school administrators to properly distribute the certificates and medals to the awarded students.
New this year, selected students will have the opportunity to submit information about themselves to AIA National so that we might highlight some of your amazing student winners.
You can find more information about the program and the link to submit on aia.org Please be advised that we have updated the 2023 application which now requires an AIA.org login. If you do not have one, you will be prompted to do so in order to submit your 2023 winner. If you have questions, please contact the highereducation@aia.org
