    Anxiety and Challenges

    I recently participated in a luncheon with the local AIA Fellows. The prevailing topic was AI: how it will change architectural practice, if it will replace architects or whether it would make architecture better. The anxiety was palpable, and the prevailing view negative.

    Principals of architecture firms worldwide have sleepless nights trying to figure out how they should position their firms for a future full of AI, climate change, global urbanization, and the prospect that new construction in the next 40 years will equal all construction in all of history before. It means, globally, a New York City-sized built area will be added every month. (Architecture 2030). Will American architects be part of this?
