    Join the Association for Preservation Technology DC Chapter (APT DC) for a virtual webinar detailing the fascinating history of Thomas Jefferson's retreat home, Poplar Forest.

    WHEN: Tuesday, March 25, 2025     12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EDT

    One (1) AIA HSW Credit is available.

    During this presentation, Austin Englund, Supervisor of Architectural Restoration, will discuss the property's history and changes over time, including sources that informed the material selection, chronology, techniques, and proportions throughout the 40-year restoration. In addition, this session will describe the use of traditional technology and materials for historical authenticity and discuss their role in modern preservation.

    I would hope the presentation will include participation by M. Jeffery Baker, principal at MCWB Architects. Jeff conducted primary research at the National Archives,as I recall, utilizing Jefferson's original notebooks to assist with the restoration efforts some 30+ years ago.
