All- it is rare for me to participate at any level of social media, but I believe we have gone far beyond the norm and need to understand the AIA’s position on the design Executive Orders on Design. We have heard- obviously not verified- of the proposed expansion of a 90,000 ballroom at the Whitehouse. We have witnessed the paving over of the Rose Garden, the gutting of non- fossil fuel energy production, etc.. We have all seen the increased ornamentation of the interiors of the White House. No judgement- but does this not all have to be part of some process? Is there public input, design discussion and consensus ( which I define to be a simple willingness to go along)? If the AIA is a leader in design, where is the voice of reason?
