Another good source is
bpd.lbl.gov. (Building Performance Database).
They have good filters by building type, location, etc.
This chart below shows the site EUI of 574 single-family homes, between 500 SF and 3000 SF, in Chicago (picked this because of your location) and some in San Francisco (our location).
I'm not sure how this compares to the DDX baseline, and haven't delved into the data sources of either database. BPD can be filtered to create a more customized set of existing peer buildings, which may be what you're aiming for.
