U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) 2025 Innovative Housing Design/Technology Showcase Opportunity for Architects on National Mall (Washington, DC)
Hello All,
My name is Lino Peña-Martinez I recently joined AIA National's Advocacy and Relationships Team as a Senior Manager for Federal Affairs in April. I have dual federal branch experience supporting the passage of landmark legislation working for the House Committe on Energy and Commerce, U.S. House of Representatives and spent the last two years helping implement the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act as well as the Inflation Reduction Act at the U.S. Department of Energy.
Beyond my federal experience I've spent time in the residential solar industry and in nonprofit development/leadership founding several nonprofits, serving vulnerable children/families and organizing for positive social and economic change. I've always been an advocate for vulnerable populations prioritizing families, children, and workers at the nexus of our economy, energy, and the environment. I studied the History of Art and Architecture and am happy to be working with you all to focus on the built environment and the industry's potential to be a leading force during these turbulent times. I'm reaching out with an opportunity for you or your firm to showcase models (tabletop or full scale) on the National Mall in DC. See details below.
HUD has put out a Call for Exhibitors to their 2025 Innovative Housing Showcase | HUD USER. The showcase will take place September 6-10, 2025, on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Prior showcases (2019 & 2022-2024) were attended by several thousand members of the public, as well as housing practitioners and government leaders, and received coverage in both popular media and trade press outlets. Proposals are being accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the deadline of Friday, August 1, 2025.
Information on How to Submit Proposals: Exhibitors Sought for Innovative Housing Showcase 2025 (pdf document also attached below)
- Summary: HUD is accepting housing models and technology demonstrations that the public can tour and interact with. Of particular interest are housing designs and technologies that have the potential to increase supply and lower the cost of construction, and/or reduce housing expenses for owners and renters.
- Tabletop Displays: these displays are typically housed in an individual tent or space within a larger tent.
- On-Ground Exhibit: these displays may showcase a particular technology or method of construction within the given footprint that is too large for a tabletop and cannot be entered.
- Enterable Exhibit: full scale enterable model
- Proposals are 1-2 pages and more information about requirements, specifications, and the application can be found at the link above or in the attached document.
Deadline for Proposals: accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until August 1, 2025.
