When I first started Architecture after many years as an Urban Designer and Planner in a national Urban Planning firm, working in 22 U.S. States and Canada, I was trained as an architect/planner (BA Architecture, MA City Design at Miami U) but did not practice architecture until i got my architectural license. Later I opened my own firm working on both architecture, urban planning and environmental design projects.

When some of my architectural clients wanted me to build the end product since I was more familiar with the design's nuts and bolts. I opened an adjunct Design/Build firm for construction and enjoyed working on the end design products.

Architects, through experience and training in building design, are Master Builders. But very few practice Design/Build.
