I would like to take this opportunity to thank David Andreozzi, Mark Demerly, John Isch and the entire Leadership Committee, along with our generous sponsors and all of the other unsung heroes (i.e. Dawn Zuber!) who graciously donate their valuable time and effort into putting events like this past week's CRAN Newport Symposium together.  Not only were the classes, seminars, round table events and home tours extremely informative, but the social aspects of spending time with like pears is most enjoyable.   Then, to host it in an amazing seaside town like Newport R.I. or last year's Indy Symposium takes it over the top!

For those who have not experienced a CRAN Symposium, I highly recommend that you consider it in the future.  Personally, I have not missed an AIA National Convention since the 1990's but for the small practitioner and custom home designer, the CRAN events alone make my yearly AIA fees a worthy and valuable expenditure.

Thank you once again and I look forward to next year!

    John,

Thank you for your posting. It was nice to see you again. One of the aspects I like so much about having these Symposiums is getting the chance to meet peers who are talented and motivated and share issues of practice and help build and implement solutions to concerns and challenges that effect our practices. I know I have grown my personal network with other professionals from places spanning from Hawaii to Maine through this forum. We hope to see you next year in September in Santa Fe.

    Best Regards,

Did you like the part when the pressure made my head turn in circles like Linda Blair!

John, Thank you from all of us... it was a fantastic weekend, and something to shoot to better in Santa Fe!

Now that I've returned to my Island outpost, I want to second John's appreciation for everyone who gave so generously of time and effort in putting together this year's CRAN Symposium. It was an absolutely wonderful four days, so I would like to send out a big Hawaiian mahalo to everyone involved.

A special thanks also needs to go out to this year's sponsors. I enjoyed getting to know many of them over the course of the symposium, and found their interest and enthusiasm for residential design very inspiring. Sharing a restaurant table with a sponsor each evening was a delight.

For anyone who has not yet discovered the joys of a CRAN Symposium, it is an opportunity to network with residential architects from around the country, attend seminars that are both entertaining and enlightening, visit great examples of vernacular architecture, and spend fun filled evenings at local restaurants.

As John mentioned, I also see CRAN as the reason why my yearly AIA dues are now a wise investment. The past two CRAN symposiums have provided me with more meaningful insights and valuable contacts than all of the architectural conventions that I've attended over the past 25 years.

    See you in Sante Fe.

(David, I thought you just didn't like the pea soup.)

This was my first experience at a CRAN Symposium and I found it to be an excellent event. Thank you to all who worked on putting it together. I strongly recommend attending to all members of CRAN.  The presentations were provocative and thoughtful,  the vendors were informative, helpful and supportive, the tours were fantastic - such an important part of understanding architecture is to experience it first hand. We enjoyed the entire event, and met many interesting contacts with similar and contrasting viewpoints that keeps the brain working after the symposium ended.
    Thank you all.
