Hello Raymond, Gordon, Gregory, Eric, Lee, Michael & Mary!
Thanks very much for your thoughtful, direct posts on BIM here. You are all bringing up fantastic points that rarely, if ever, are brought to the table for discussion when the spotlights are on by the elite BIM cognoscenti.
Stuart Narofsky from Manhattan and I were the presenters in last year's convention that put on SA204 - "BIM for Residential - A Small Firm Primer."
As some you watched the session on the AIA Virtual Convention "Best of the Best" series, our focus was certainly not to sing the BIM Kubaya song and hold hands. We are both simple guys working in the real world who use BIM in our practices and are looking to grow our businesses as all of you are in this economic downturn.
We will be back this year at National in DC for the second round of this discussion and the title is SA204 "BIM for Residential Architecture: Taking it to the next level in Real-World Practice!"
Our goals this year are not repeat everything from last year, rather really step up the pace and raise the bar to take the dialogue deeper into real-world practice issues. Stuart and I would be most grateful to hear more of your comments as we have been culling through many comments such as these to develop the talking points for this year's presentation.
Please feel free to post more here in the forum or send Stuart and I private emails if that would be more convenient. There are no bad comments, just comments. Our focus is on real-world issues and how we have navigated through them, our experiences both prior to last year's session and since last year's session and of course the not-so-good as well as good outcomes of our BIM development in our respective offices.
Thanks in advance for your comments to date and your comments to come - we welcome you to join in on the discussion during our presentation this year in DC.
Respectfully,
James
