Isabella - I agree with William Hirsch's comments and am amazed at how ill-conceived and completely tone deaf your posting was which solicited input for a newsletter item. This was an incredibly bad idea to promote, that only serves to reinforce the worst - typically erroneous, stereotypes. It does a true disservice to our profession to promote this sort of fluff.

Everyone please take a deep breath and relax.  CRAN isn't trying to do a disservice to our profession.  We are simply trying to engage each other in a dialogue that hopefully we can all learn something from.

The inspiration for the theme really came from the medical profession.  It seems that these professionals know that improvements in their profession can come from examining what went wrong and using these incidents as "teachable moments."  Why wouldn't we want to do the same?  Isn't the CRANicle and these discussion boards a chance for us to engage in a dialogue and learn from each other, even if that learning comes at a little self reflection and humility?

I know that I've made my fair share of mistakes as an architect.  And as embarrassing as it can be, if I can relay to a fellow architect the lessons I've learned from the mistakes I've made, the better I believe our profession will be.
