This short speech (attached .pdf) was written and given last week by Eric Inman Daum at the New England chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art's 4th Annual Bulfinch Ceremony. While I don't expect everyone to agree with it 100%... I found it beautifully written and worth the time to read.
