Fellow CRAN members;
After over fifty years in practice I can add the observation that each and every time I have had the opportunity to design for a SPECBUILDER the experience has been an exciting one. Not that I have problems with Owners but that the freedom of expression and the creativity excercised with them has been foremost in my memory. These selected builders cherished the designs and constructed them to exact design detail. They were very successful in developing their enclaves and all moved on to larger things. They were all very appreciative as are the buyers and the communities. Talk about a WinWin.
Also, my feelings toward non-licensed house designers has always been that they should be licensed. As far as requirements? I'm can not begin to make that list, nor do I wish to. But more recently it has
been my observation that it can become a part of the building permit process. Many of the communities I do work in require a state seal, no matter how small the project and then also require inspection certification before they will issue a Certificate of Occupancy. More and more this is happening.
Another also. Let us not forget a couple of "Mantra for the Architect"......those being the Laws of Hammurabbi with regard to responsibility and the Truth Which We Design By which says that architects'
save their clients money, at least equal to or greater than their fee.............Bob
