On Wednesday, November 30 there will be a special pre-conference workshop held at the Octagon House in conjunction with the Traditional Building Conference Series being held December 1 and 2 in Washington DC.  The hands on investigation of the Octagon House will begin with a 90 minute lecture chronicling a history of the development of historic building assessment best practices with a review of the developmental history of the Octagon House. Following the lecture, there will be team investigations of the building's site, exterior and interior finishes, structure and building systems to demonstrate how to assess material condition and historical integrity. During the remainder of the day teams will interact to draft and make oral presentations of their preliminary findings and recommendations for treatment and use.

This special workshop is limited to 30 participants. Register now to guarantee your spot for this unique opportunity to earn 6 AIA Learning Units before the end of the year. For more information go to www.traditionalbuildingshow.com.
