Please join APT DC for a special August presentation as Katie Irwin of Quinn Evans Architecture discusses the architecture in the District from the 1920s and 30s with a focus on ambassadors' residences and cultural facilities and the need to preserve these aging structures.

The architectural heritage from the Jazz Age are nearing their centennial anniversaries. The ones in Washington, DC were designed in a wide range of architectural styles and are now in need of preservation. However, many no longer function as they were originally planned. This slide-illustrated talk will highlight notable 1920s buildings within Washington, DC that have received recent rehabilitation projects. Focus will be on the Belgian Ambassador's Residence and the National Academy of Sciences among others. This presentation will explore how this architectural heritage is being preserved, restored, and adapted for 21st century uses.

1 HSW LU/PDH has been requested from AIA. If you would like to receive credit, please choose the appropriate registration option.

Dupont Circle (Metro: Red; South Exit) and Foggy Bottom (Metro: Blue/Orange/Silver) are the closest Metro stations. Street parking is available in the vicinity. Please check the meter carefully as the times and payment requirements vary by street. Doors will open at 6:30 with the presentation starting at 7:00. Light refreshments will be served.
