What uses are building owners currently making of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology in their business practices? How well do current BIM standards meet owners' needs? What are owners doing to develop their own BIM standards? This webinar will answer these and related questions based on up-to-the-minute information gathered from building owners at recent TAP-sponsored events bringing together owners, standards organizations and software vendors.
The current and emerging uses of BIM by a wide range of building owners will be discussed, including Federal, state and foreign government agencies as well as private owners. The discussion will focus on two primary areas: procurement and facilities management. Procurement issues include favored project delivery methods, the scope of BIM standards owners are asking design teams to meet and BIM-derived deliverables. Facilities management topics include what systems owners are using to manage facilities information, how data from the construction phase is imported into owners' management systems and what challenges owners face in improving their internal practices.
