I've received a number of questions regarding my post of September 9th. Thank you for your interest.
What type of smartphone runs the apps that were mentioned?
The applications that I made reference to on September 9th are iPhone applications.
Can drawings be called up on different kinds of devices with different carriers?
Any hand held device that can display photographs can display drawings IF the drawing image is the same file type as the photograph, usually JPG. If you think of drawings as pictures, all of the photo sharing and editing tools that are on the internet and available on hand held devices can be used to share and edit drawing images. You need to be judicious regarding the file sizes of drawing images if you want them to be displayed on the screen of a smartphone. I've found gray scale, 72 dpi images of around 250k load and unload easily on the iPhone and iPad. Drawing images in a PDF file format can also be displayed on many hand held devices but they are not compatible with the photo management schemes that have already been established on smartphones and tablets for photos and screen captures. In the case of the of the iPhone and iPad, this is the Camera Roll and Photo Albums.
Does it have to be Apple?
There are numerous applications that run on different devices that manage and edit photographs and as stated above, can be used to edit drawing images. The applications I mentioned in my last post that are specifically designed to perform certain constructioin project management tasks are available now only on the iPhone and iPad.
Can drawing images be edited on the iPad?
The iPad is an excellent drawing image platform and applications that have been produced for the iPhone to edit images do run on the iPad. However, they appear in a small window the size of the iPhone screen. This window can be enlarged with a scaling button but the resolution of the image is poor. Many iPhone application developers are now in the process of rewriting their applications to take full advantage of the iPad's larger screen.
What is the name of the architect and name of apps that were mentioned?
I developed the applications that were mentioned in my first blog entry because I could not find any applications that work the way architects work. The names of the iPhone applications that I made reference to are uSketchit+, uPunchit+ and uCantMeanIt. You can read read more about them at Citygraphs.com.
