More Camels on the Head of a Pin

Recently I was lucky enough to be staying in a hotel room overlooking the beach in Waikiki.  The room was laid out like the drawing on the left.  In bed, I couldn't see the beach because the table and chairs were in the way and I couldn't imagine sitting in the chairs and looking at the room instead of the beach.  The room should have been laid out like the drawing at the left.  From the chairs I can look at the view over the bed and from the bed nothing is blocking my view.  No extra cost.  Design adding value at no extra cost!  This is something our clients would appreciate.  I think taking care of stuff like this is essential to architectural design excellence.  Its not enough, we still need to know what the chairs and the sliding glass doors and the lanai railings look like, but this must be part of it.  Am I wrong?  Some seem to say that taking care of this kind of thing is somehow in conflict with design excellence.  What?  How?
