I believe Soleri's life and work ranks with the top of all the architects and human settlement planner/builders in history - particularly because it is happening in the USA and at this time of hyper- capitalistic greed, unfathomable planet destroying consumer junkieism, unevolved macho, war mongering - bankers, multinational corporate control, and cave men heads of states. I'm well aware of the valid criticisms of Soleri and Arcosanti. However, I'm hard pressed to think of more existentially meaningful work that we as architects, human settlement planners and builders could be doing. To all the above, who ARE evolved participants, I say Bravo! We should keep working on Arcosonti! Many of my highly respected collegues are doing wonderful, sustainable work for humanity around the world! I can't wait for the national and global symposia regarding Soleri's life and work, in relation to our dire human conditions, to begin! Furthermore, I would be extremely proud to see our COD lead the way TODAY! ------------------------------------------- Harold Baker AIA Principal Baker Architects & Builders, LLC Brazil IN -------------------------------------------

I encountered Paolo Soleri on multiple occasions when I was still a grad student at Taliesin. I found him to be an architect who was generous with his time. What I admire is that he was an independent thinker who dared to express a different view than that of the deified genius that is Frank Lloyd Wright, regarding Broadacre City. http://on.fb.me/ZnPSNQ
