    I'm definitely in!!

Not only would this lend credibility to the architects trying to add credibility to custom designed residential architecture, but it would provide a much stronger platform to present the strength of the end products (architecturally designed residential projects) to the general public.

Thanks for your spirited response George!  The ARA is an idea whose time has come.

Rand - I personally feel that there are already two professional groups of architects. There are those of us in the AIA who would like to affect change, and there are those out of the AIA who are constantly criticizing it for its ineffectiveness fro the overall profession, and for its lobby which affects expensive and meaningless requirements to maintain one's registration. Architects know who, and where they are, and they are always trying  - independently - to stay on top of their game.

The ARA in my way of thinking is a great idea because of its ability to reintroduce the general public - world wide - to a quality of functional living space for all occupant bases that have become lost. As I said originally, it is a great way to establish credibility for the individuals and firms striving to create very creditable products, no matter who the end occupants might be.

A choice is always healthy, and it is a great way of creating "checks and balances."

I would choose ARA, and maybe I would choose both. But I would not like to see the original absorb the more recent. I'm afraid the intention behind the creation of the more recent would become distorted beyond recognition.

Thanks George.  The name has morphed, because of other organizations out there using acronyms too close to that.  We are now thinking:

    ArCH: Architects Creating Homes.

Simple, focused, what we do, who we are.
Nothing involving concerns about "custom" or otherwise.
We are gathering some interest.  You and others are welcome to e-mail me to be included in on the discussion:

    Rand@HomeArchitects.com

Thanks.  I am still hoping and praying for the miracle of the AIA contacting me and saying: Okay: here's access to a pile of dues money for you to use to fund a Comprehensive Public Awareness Program for Residential Architects.  I'm not going to hold my breath, though.

Good idea. Will you also have sister organizations?, such as:

    ArRB: Architects Remodeling Bathrooms
    ArDD: Architects Designing Doghouses

Semantics is a thorny thicket but it can be fun.

    Here's a cheeky one:
    ArSE: Architects Stroking their Egos

    Cheers,
