I have a small office specializing in residential renovations and additions. I have been using Vectorworks for 15 years and am very happy with it. I'm still using a version from 2005 and they have offered to upgrade me to 2012 for $778 and put me on an options subscription plan for $359/yr. which will include all future upgrades + tech support. It's very simple to use but also has very sophisticated capabilities. 3-D BIM objects, rendering, etc. Easy interface with Autocad. Moves seamlessly back & forth between Macs & PC's.
