You must be kidding. I can see a contractor giving an architect a "family rate", but unless you have a long-standing relationship with the builder, or you are the hottest designer in CA, wholesale is not a reasonable expectation. Get a GC with a good stable of reliable subs, and you will get the job built with fewer hassles and recriminations. Getting what you pay for still true, even in a recession. Lest you think I am a total interloper, I'm no stranger to La Jolla, my sister lives nearby.
