I'm still using a ten-year-old version of Masterspec that I keep re-editing. It's written on MS Word format and is reasonably comprehensive, though not specifically designed for residential work. Hopefully, they have improved it over the years. Once you have customized it for your practice it serves as a pretty good template, preventing omissions, in particular. Bottom line is, someone still has to make all the decisions at some point, and that takes time.
