    Hello Brother & Sister Architects,
I thought you all might like to know that all of our comments on this forum appear to be visible and accessible from any computer anywhere.  Please take heed, knowing that what you say here reflects on your business and other architects.   I discovered this by accident, typing in some key words into a browser and up popped one of the AIA discussion forums, without passwords or anything else.  Try it for yourselves.  People entering our forum in this manner cannot enter comments, but are free to read other statements on the AIA website.  So, you may wish to consider basic e-mail protocol, in which you never put into an e-mail (or an online forum) what you wouldn't want anyone else on the planet to read.  I wish you all the best and hope you are having a good year.

Perhaps we could use this "visibility" issue to our benefit.  What if we began discussing the damage that fear-based city planning does to the quality of design and the built environment?  What if we explained how uniform limits to style, materials, bulk and height of projects creates a mediocre environment?  What if asked for laws to be changed so that planners would need to "make findings" if they wanted to impose limits on our projects that are greater than the written planning code requires? What if we spoke the truth about how our clients avoid overly-restrictive environmental laws by making substantial changes in our projects after the Final Inspection?  If this were to happen, I would hope that these issue might "leak out" into the public domain and have some positive impact on our design environment.
