I was touring AZ in about 1991 and I went to Arcosanti and met Mr. Soleri.  I asked him how it was going.  His answer: "Very gently." 

Hard to get a megastructure built in one man's lifetime.
But he still had a gang of young people idolizing him.  And justifiably so.
