In addition to being an Architect, I am also a Real Estate Broker. As a Reltor, when we create any terms and conditions of a contract, we need to be very careful, so that it does not look like we are playing as an Attorney. Why? Because Attorneys protect their profession very well and wants to make sure there is no unauthorized intrusion. Similarly you cannot play a doctor's roll, without being legally responsible for your unqualified actions. I wonder why the Architectural profession cannot do that. Don't you all feel there should be strong lobbying to create legislation to protect our profession? You should not be allowed to build a simple wall without the approval of an Architect. I am not very knowledgeable about this kind of legislation in other countries. But I heard it is there in some European countries where Architecture is a very respected and well controlled profession, due to strict control of design profession. I did not read many of the discussions before and not sure whether someone has already mentioned it. But, personally I feel legislative intervention could save this profession and bring a much higher level in quality of life in our country.
