An interesting post on the Blog Mind/Shift: "21 Things that will be Obsolete by 2020" got me thinking of many of the things we see in brand new schools that are already obsolete.  I list 10 of these, can you think of more?  Check out School Design Matters for the list.

Great article Greg. You have posed some interesting paradigms that with the younger tech savvy generation are becoming obsolete. I agree with your perspectives and would like to add details to which you were alluding to in your post of the typical classroom: the concept of just learning in a period of time in a classroom. I think the idea of students coming into a classroom for 45 minutes to an hour or so is becoming obsolete and what you were saying that the traditional classroom is no longer functional. Most learning actually occurs outside of the classroom so with the inclusion of break out spaces and group areas is where learning is really happening. Classrooms that are mult-functional are becoming necessary, but also teachers need to be able to take advantage of these spaces. Along with the classroom being obsolete the concept of the desk is also obsolete since they were originally set up for the old paradigm of lecture teaching. Desks need to be more flexible and connection ready in order to be functional now.
    Great read.
