I thought it was interesting to see what might be the start of a movement in this regard. This goes hand in hand with designing environments that enable the teaching of 21st century skills. How do we make schools and colleges of education aware of how their spatial environment can facilitate development of 21st century skills?  less

I have recently published a  paper, Eco Literacy: Greening Public Imagination in the 4th International Design Principles and Practices Journal which defines Eco Literacy and Digital Fluency as two essential learning standards for 21st century education. The paper can be found on the www.NEXT.cc website under publications. NEXT.cc is an educational non profit that introduces what design is, what it does and why it is important for education. I will be presenting Green Cities, Green Schools at the first United States Green Schools Symposium in Minneapolis, October 24-16. This Saturday, at the Chicago Architecture and Design College Day I am presenting Design Technology Today to aspiring architecture students and their parents. There is much work to be done to assist teachers, students and their communities with the tools and skills that scientists, environmentalists, architects, designers and artists are using.
