    The first keynote speaker of this year's EDspaces conference, Jed Horne, asked the audience, "Did it take a catastrophe like Katrina to make school reform happen in New Orleans?" Horne says yes, what are your thoughts? Horne is the author of, "Breach of Faith: Hurricane Katrina and the Near Death of a Great American City;" and, he notes that prior to Katrina the school system was already in shambles but was only truly addressed after the disaster.
