I am a committee member tasked with redefining our in-house QA and QC programs. There are tons of "checklists" available on line, most customized to focus on specific project types. I am looking for general purpose guidelines flexible enough to apply to a broad range of projects and types. Then we can customize them for anything from standard TI fitout to 200 bed hospital projects.

I believe I am looking more for procedural information at this point and less for nitty gritty checklists. We have the usual AIA Handbook of Professional Practice which is a good start. Next there is ISO 9001 Standards! There has to be something in between... more digestible and practicable.

    Greg,

As the primary QA-QC reviewer for our firm, I can at least inform you of what direction I have taken.  Several years ago we had a copy of RediCheck which is a very rudimentary checklist.  I translated the checklist into an Excel spreadsheet with a different tab for each category (civil, electrical, elevators, basements, roofing, etc.).  I added to and modified the checklist items as seemed sensible to me.

Since then I have watched the trends of common errors/omissions on projects, especially some obscure code items that can be easily overlooked, and added those items to the checklist.  I generally add one to two items per month to the checklist.

In addition to the 2 to 3 reviews that I provide each project, the project architects are responsible for reviewing their own projects against the checklist at least twice prior to releasing bid documents.

    I hope this helps.
