Project Spotlight: Pro Shop Powered by '47

Boston is undeniably at the precipice of an urban innovation transformation, with mixed-use commercial real estate development driving the movement across many of the city’s historic neighborhoods. And in an overwhelmingly digital era, the consumer-driven resurgence of brick and mortar retail experiences within sub-communities are indicative of the innate human desire for physical interaction, a void that is simply not filled through e-commerce platforms.
Creating and executing this type of memorable, immersive and nostalgic retail experience requires a trusted partnership between the retailer and a design team partner consistent with an intuitive, receptive and adaptive approach.
Enter Bergmeyer, an award-winning design collaborative firm that partnered with Boston ProShop powered by ’47 to design and create an immersive and interactive sports retail environment symbolic of Boston’s legendary local franchises.
Bergmeyer’s strategic thought process on how to approach this project meant first identifying and resonating with the core values of Boston’s die-hard fans and teams to create a one-of-a-kind retail experience equivalent to that of the incomparable thrill felt on game nights.
The 6,878 square foot interior space located on the ground level of newly developed The Hub on Causeway was designed by Bergmeyer to strengthen the bonds between the fans and the teams they love by creating an elevated retail experience with groundbreaking technical advancements, never-before-seen at sports arenas.

The store design flawlessly blends exposed ceilings, honed concrete floors, large retail store fixtures constructed of rough-cut wood and welded steel, and state-of-the-art audio-visual displays and digital signage. This includes a multi-layered retail and environmental lighting scheme complete with LED track lights complemented with supplemental ambient and accent lighting made up of linear lighting with acoustic baffles for sound dampening.
With a strategic goal to go beyond the typical souvenir shop, Bergmeyer’s design team introduced an enhanced women’s apparel section at the front of the store, a revamped lifestyle section, and the largest jersey wall ever seen.

Other distinctive features include state-of-the-art fixtures like the floor-to-ceiling jersey wall (offering the largest selection of Bruins/Celtics jerseys in the city), a massive T-shirt display serving as the store’s centerpiece. What is more, Bergmeyer paid homage to the rich history of the iconic TD Garden by restoring Garden parquet flooring where the Boston Celtics won the 2008 NBA Championship.
