2013 AAJ - Alternative Project Delivery...Boom or Bust?

On Thursday at the 2013 AAJ Conference, there will be a presentation entitled “Alternative Project Delivery…Boom or Bust?”  The speakers include Curt Parde (HOK), Bill Prindle (CGL) and Michael Brenchley (HDR).

“Alternative Project Delivery” is a common buzzword intoday's architecture market.  The days of the traditional project delivery method of “Design it, Bid it, then Build it” are gradually transitioning to a different method for different reasons.  This alternative delivery is providing opportunities for architects to re-think their approach on how they pursue projects and execute them successfully.

The presenters will first look at risks associated with an Alternative Project Delivery.  How does an architect identify the risks ahead of time?  Once identified, how does an architect mitigate those risks?  Due to a less traditional position on the project pyramid, where architects have direct access to clients, architects also need to look at how they can maintain good client relationships through the design/build process and help facilitate a successful design in the end. All of these interesting challenges regarding Alternative Project Delivery will be discussed at Thursdays presentation.

Curt, Bill and Michael will also delve into a few case studies with different delivery methods.  These case studies have presented different risks, different relationships with the owner, and lessons learned through each process.  With the evolution of current trends in project delivery leaning more and more to design/build and P3, this presentation will be a great asset to those who are involved in design/build or P3 projects across the nation.

This will be one of the many informative presentations at this years’ AAJ conference!  Make sure you're there!
