Why is modern architecture so attractive for people?

While I was working on my online assignment project on architectural styles, I had to look through and analyze plenty of architectural styles starting with the renaissance, baroque and ending with modern and futuristic styles.

The modern architecture was the style that came to my liking more than any other. After looking through a variety of models I came to a rather interesting conclusion. Modern architecture is truly a universal piece of art. Every person can find something special in this style even if he or she has sympathy to other architectural types. If you have any doubts please read on and maybe you‘ll change your opinion after looking through this information.

The modern architecture includes the following attributes:

  • The artists’ credo is simplicity above all;
  • There should be a clear view of the materials used for building;
  • The creators do their best to minimize the use of unnecessary design elements.
  • The core of the modern architecture lies in the unity between the perfect forms and their use for the structure.
  • The natural decoration of the building material predominates over human-made decorations. That is why modern architecture usually applies wood, steel or glass as a building material.

Modern and contemporary architecture

During my researches, I faced two terms which are interconnected – modern architecture and contemporary. They have been mixed to such an extent that it led to some slight misunderstanding. The contemporary and modern architecture are not quite the same things, however, they are tightly linked. Putting it simple contemporary refers to the “right now” events, dates etc., while modern art has been existing since the start of the 20th century, incorporating the achievements of top-level engineering progress.

The whole modern architecture concentrates upon the industrial materials such as steel, Plexiglas, carbon fiber, concrete and other newly developed materials. The contemporary buildings can be represented by means of the same materials. In this case, the buildings are considered totally new, with deeply thought innovative elements.

The uniqueness of modern architecture

Regardless of the simplicity which predominates in modern architecture, there are several benefits which make it totally unique. For example, the variations of roofs can be rather different, starting with flat roofs, boxy styles which look rather cute and ending with unusual shapes, linear elements and other artistic design figures which can drive the attention of an architecture lover.

Just look at the pictures of large cities in US, Tokyo, China, UAE etc. Each sky-scraping giant is a representative of a fine modern art. Each of them stands in the very centres of the cities causing dizziness, when you look up into the blue sky. They seem similar in material and yet unique in appearance due to the peculiarity of the modern style.

Design in the modern style apartment

The room decorated in the modern style might seem somewhat reserved and not bright. However, that is not totally true. As we have stated before, the building materials serve as the main decoration.

The design in such style speaks for itself through its structure and functionality. The simplicity of shapes and lines and application of wooden and steel elements are used to describe the central image of the whole premise – the architecture!

In some aspects it is close to a popular Scandinavian style with its minimalistic tendencies, however, it is “less empty”.

The adaptability of modern architecture with other styles

Thanks to the ability to be manipulated through shapes, modern architecture is perfectly adaptable to other urban buildings. The combo of traditional, classical elements with modern ones creates a unique synthesis of comfort and coziness.

For me, modern architecture is the future that reflects our engineering achievements and I think that it will occupy the leading positions for builders for a long time.
