PHOTO - Justice for ALL: Embracing Diversity in Civic Design

In anticipation of the upcoming AAJ 2014 National Conference, Session TB03: Justice for ALL: Embracing Diversity in Civic Design, the following photo shows the Porterville Courthouse in California, serving as an example to illustrate the courthouse planning in an underserved, growing county.

The photo below is the Porterville Courthouse in the Tulare County in California. According to the information from the Judicial Council of California, this project was completed in the third quarter of 2013. This is a 9-courtroom courthouse with 100,299 square feet.

Some interesting data on the Tulare County (Source: www.city-data.com with data up to 2011)

Races
- Hispanic or Latino (60.6%)
- White Non-Hispanic Alone (32.6%)
- Asian Alone (3.2%)
- Two or more races (1.4%)
- Black Non-Hispanic Alone (1.2%)
- American Indian and Alaska Native Alone (0.8%)

Median Household Income
- $39,996 in Tulare County compared to $58,931 in California

It would be interesting to see how the Porterville Courthouse addresses the economic challenges and social demographics at the Tulare County!
