Aspiring Architects Rediscover The Future

College and high school students today are exposed to technology far more sophisticated than the computers that put man on the moon in 1961. In a few more years, they will join a workforce that is dominated by diverse parameters--one that is perhaps multi-generational, working in multiple geographies and time zones, and require skill sets for jobs that would only exist in the future. As more women also participate in the workforce, hopefully this will create shifts in their perceived roles in society that leads to a balanced leadership worldwide. It is important to encourage and re-discover ideas, designs, and technologies surrounding these parameters that are central to the built environment.

Chicago Architecture Today, LLC challenged college and high school students to imagine and produce design solutions for the next generation of megatall structures using a programmatic target of a diverse and comprehensive vertical healthcare community located in either Chicago, IL, USA or Amman, Jordan in the Middle East. Now on its 5th year, the International Skyscraper and National Home Design Competition’s theme is “Rediscover the Future”.
