Los Angeles County is currently facing devastating wildfires, which have burned over 40,000 acres, destroyed over 12,300 structures, caused over 2 dozen fatalities, and forces over 180,000 residents to be either required or encouraged to evacuate thus far. Firefighters are still working to contain the fires. To find the most up to date information around the status and impact of the fires, visit fire.ca.gov/incidents.
AIA chapters in California have already begun to mobilize, hosting several virtual events to gain insights into the needs of impact communities and developing ideas for how to support recovery and rebuilding efforts. As opportunities become available to support those efforts, we will let people know!
