I've been curious about this for a while. I'm currently working with LAX and LAS airports, and previously collaborated with GOOA and SDIA. Across these facilities, I've noticed both strong similarities and a wide range of differences.
I'm interested in how your team approaches and overcomes data silos in your environment. I'll be hosting a panel discussion in September focused on the challenges and opportunities others are facing with similar deliverables, and I'm hoping to learn from different perspectives.

Thesla,
I don't have any experience in Aviation projects. I have been looking for case studies and precedents for corporate workplace projects. It is interesting that the concept of digital twins has been around for at least 10 years, but it's still hard to find this case studies or best practices. Even the projects that are touted as innovative for implementing them, I've had a hard time truly understand what information is needed and how it should be formatted. My focus is taking CD info and translating it to operations to prevent the re-work for BAS, BMS, CAFM, IWMS, etc., but it's been challenging to find other's process.
The closest I've gotten is projects using ISO 19650 via Plannerly and Autodesk Construction Cloud as a CDE. When I was supporting an owner and the necessary information was managed by different departments - HR, IT, Finance, it was an even bigger challenge. There was an attempt to unify all of the data using under One Source, but I don't remember if that was the actual name of the platform or if that is just what they were calling it.
I too would love to learn about what solutions others have developed for managing project data through to facilities management.

I'm curious to hear how different teams are approaching big data integration in aviation projects, especially when it comes to enabling digital twins and supporting long-term facility management.
In our work, we're seeing a growing need to unify data from design, construction, and operations into a single ecosystem. The goal is to create a living digital twin that not only reflects the built environment but also supports predictive maintenance, asset tracking, and operational efficiency.
Some questions to spark discussion:
- How are you structuring your data pipelines to support digital twin development?
- Are you using any specific platforms or standards (e.g., IFC, COBie, ISO 19650)?
- What challenges have you faced in integrating legacy systems or siloed data?
- How are you leveraging AI or machine learning to enhance facility management insights?
Would love to hear about your strategies, tools, and lessons learned. Let's share ideas and help push the industry forward.
Looking forward to your thoughts!
