Get involved!

The mission of the AIA Small Firm Exchange (SFx) is to advance the mutual interests of architects practicing in small firms.   1. Advocate the value of small firms, the national SFx, and local SFx groups, both within the AIA and to the public.  2. Curate and disseminate the most pertinent resources and information, from the AIA & elsewhere, that benefit small firms.  3. Inform the AIA of current issues facing small firms and areas in which current resources/information are lacking.

We recommend you start your volunteer service to SFX as a state representative. Nevertheless, any member can apply to directly join the SFX board (made up of 15 AIA members who work in small firms and a CACE rep selected by the current CACE president. The SFX board is led by an Executive Committee including the past, current, and future chair as well as the at large directors leading working groups. You can review the full board position description. Note applications for the SFX board go through the annual AIA Call for Volunteers open in May and June each year.
