Expanding the Healthcare Design Community: Making Healthcare Design More Inclusive Through HBCU Engagement

Application deadline is Friday, April 30, 2025 at 5pm CT.

We believe that the rich history, cultural understanding, and diverse perspectives of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are essential keys to unlocking a more equitable and inclusive future for healthcare design.

Together, we envision a future where healthcare design embraces the power of diversity, fosters equity in access and utilization, and reflects the lived experiences of all communities. By making healthcare more inclusive, we can ensure that healthcare design reflects not just physical needs, but also the cultural tapestry of the communities it serves, leaving a lasting legacy of well-being and inclusion for generations to come.

The AIA Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH) and the American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA) have allocated funds to support travel and lodging for up to four grant recipients to attend the Educator's Summit in conjunction with the AIA AAH / ACHA Summer Leadership Summit in Denver, CO.

Further details about this program and how to apply are included in the PDF attached.
