Afternoon everyone,
Charlie White from AIA New York State here. First time posting on this forum (which has been an amazing resource!) and thought I'd take a moment pose a few questions here.
As you're all undoubtedly aware, Trump's megabill just just passed the Senate by the narrowest of margins. It's been a while since I've done a line item-by-line item com through of a federal spending package, but you don't need to dig too deep to find dramatic recissions to programs directly benefitting our members. Amal, LaTriece, and the rest of the National team--when/if the measure passes the House, I'm curious if state and local chapters will have the opportunity to get your insight and analysis on the impact of cuts to programs at the state level that are either directly or indirectly tied to projects/initiatives involving our members. Obviously, we're not looking for any hyper-specifics in terms of individual projects/programs, but I've been hearing a number of concerns regarding cuts included in Title VI spending (Environment/Public works) as well items already discussed (i.e. 179D).
Again, there's so much to unpack here. But for those of you who have been sensing a "wait and see" approach from your respective state/local decisionmakers over the past six months, it's seems that the real-world impacts are about to become clearer.
