Thursday, May 17 - 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.  AIA 2012 Institute Honor Awards for Architecture- Three jurors will illuminate the 2012 Institute Honor Awards noting their achievements, offer critical review of the work, and reflect on common themes. Successful presentation formats will be shared along with insight into the jury's evaluation and deliberation in order to demystify the submission and selection process. Earn 1.50 CEH.

Thursday, May 17 - 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.  AIA 2011 Design Ideas Competition-  Each year, the AIA Young Architects Forum (YAF) and the AIA Committee on Design (COD) invite architects, students, and allied design professionals to submit entries to the international Ideas Competition. The YAF and COD are pleased to announce the third annual Ideas Competition for 2012. This year's big idea is "Active Lifestyles for Better Health." Friday, May 18 – 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.  A conversation with this year’s Firm Award recipient, VJAA.  "The American Institute of Architects Board of Directors on Dec. 8 awarded the 2012 AIA Architecture Firm Award to VJAA (Vincent James Associates Architects), the modest Minnesota firm respected for its consistently rigorous approach to research-driven form-making. The AIA Architecture Firm Award, given annually, is the highest honor the AIA bestows on an architecture firm, and recognizes a practice that has consistently produced distinguished architecture for at least 10 years. Friday, May 18 – 7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.   A Celebration Reception-with this year’s Gold Medal recipient, Stephen Holl, FAIA, Firm Award recipient, VJAA, FAIA, the inducted Honorary Fellows, and the Collaborative Achievement recipients from around the world.  This will be held at the Decatur House on Lafayette Square, 1610 H Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20006 on Friday, May 18th, 2012 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. Tickets are $115 each and can be purchased online.

Saturday, May 19 – 7:00 a.m.-8:00 a.m.  A conversation with this year’s recipients of Institute Honors for Collaborative Achievement. Institute Honors for Collaborative Achievement are given by the American Institute of Architects to recognize and encourage distinguished achievements of allied professionals, clients, organizations, architect teams, knowledge communities, and others who have had a beneficial influence on or advanced the architectural profession. Saturday, May 19 – 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m.  A conversation about this year's Twenty-five Year Award for Frank Gehry's house in Los Angeles. Since 1969, the AIA Twenty-five Year Award has been bestowed annually (except 1970) upon a project that is 25 to 35 years old; continues to perform its original function with perfection; and possesses an enduring design excellence.
