Design for Aging Student Competition: Culturally Specific Living: China's Challenge

When:  Jan 11, 2014 from 08:00 AM to 04:59 PM (ET)
Associated with  Design for Aging
In the past few years, China has emerged as Senior Living’s land of opportunity.

The AIA Design for Aging Knowledge Committee is seeking ideas in response to the following questions:

     • What are the specific features of a flexibly designed residential unit for seniors living independently or
with assistance that can accommodate a variety of functional impairments?
     • What are examples of culturally specific design solutions that make this project specific to its context?
     • How will the nursing

The main goal of this competition is to create a place that Chinese seniors want to move – a dynamic, highly functioning community in which people will age well; one that provides activity, interest, excitement, and connections to one other as well as the greater community.

Schedule

Submissions will be due to the AIA by January 10, 2014. The Design for Aging Review jury will review the submissions immediately thereafter. Winners will be notified in early spring 2014.
