AIAU Course: Working Effectively with International Design Teams

When:  Apr 14, 2026 from 08:00 AM to 09:00 AM (ET)
Associated with  Global Practice Community

This program explores how to lead and collaborate effectively across borders in global design practices. Panelists will discuss how they navigated complex design workflows between teams on different continents, drawing from real-world case studies in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Topics include cultural expectations, communication strategies, time zone coordination, and digital tools that enable successful delivery. The audience will leave with practical frameworks and lessons learned from both sides of the collaboration.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify key cultural and professional practice differences between U.S.-based teams and counterparts in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia, and apply strategies to navigate communication and decision-making challenges.
  • Develop effective time zone management techniques that optimize workflow continuity, reduce project delays, and support 24-hour design progress in global teams.
  • Evaluate digital collaboration tools and protocols (e.g., BIM 360, Miro, Bluebeam) to ensure consistency, clarity, and efficiency in remote multidisciplinary design environments.
  • Apply real-world lessons from international projects to improve team integration, stakeholder alignment, and cross-cultural leadership in complex design initiatives.

Attendees will receive 1 LU for attending this course.
