Introduction
The Innovators and Maintainers: Swiss Innovation in Architecture, Infrastructure, & Technology
21st - 29th September 2019 with an add on tour from 29 September until October 2nd
Please join us for what will prove to be an enriching and invigorating conference exploring the innovations and infrastructure of Switzerland.
The AIA Committee on Design (COD) International Conference in Switzerland is second in a two-part conference series about innovation in architecture, infrastructure, and technology. We will explore innovation in all aspects of the built environment in Switzerland, the country that regularly ranks number one on global innovation indexes.
Switzerland is known for its superb infrastructure and richness of architectural gems. Innovative works by Le Corbusier, Herzog, and De Meuron peppering the country will be toured during our visit. We will also see work on the Novartis and Vitra Design Museum and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne campuses. A tour of Mount Pilatus will provide a breathtaking moment to take in the rich landscape and the infrastructure Switzerland is famous for. At the end of the week will be the opportunity to extend the tour to visit Peter Zumthor’s mystifying Therme Vals spa and other select gems of the Swiss Alps.
We will visit three main cities: BASEL, LAUSANNE and LUCERNE with hotel accommodations in each location. A post-conference tour will visit the Alpine Villages of Graubunden.
