Everyone knows Baltimore for at least two things: For its Inner Harbor and for The Wire. The latter became so much a stain on the city's reputation that for years now politicians rather focused on "the neighborhoods" than on the shiny harbor. Until now, when 50 years into the Inner Harbor's new life as "Baltimore's playground" there is the realization that the Inner Harbor isn't so shiny any more. If it ever was Baltimore's playground, it certainly isn't now. Few residents mingle with the tourists for a view of the jugglers at Harborplace, eat at Hooters or visit the "Believe it or Not Emporium".
